Set Photography

Set photography, also known as unit photography, is the art of capturing behind-the-scenes images of a film or television production. Set photographers document the filmmaking process, from the initial stages of pre-production to the final wrap of the shoot.

Set photographers play an important role in the filmmaking process. Their images provide valuable documentation for the filmmakers to use in marketing and promoting their film, as well as for archival purposes. Set photographers also play an important role in capturing the behind-the-scenes stories and candid moments that make a film production unique.

To be a successful set photographer, you need to have a strong understanding of photography fundamentals, such as composition, lighting, and exposure. You also need to be able to work quickly and quietly in a busy and often chaotic environment.

I love this style of photography. I love the challenge of capturing the magic of filmmaking. I love documenting the creative process and capturing the candid moments that make each film or television production unique.

What I love most about set photography is that it is a collaborative art form. I work closely with the filmmakers to understand their vision for the project and to develop a shot list that meets their needs. I also work with the cast and crew to create an environment where they feel comfortable and able to perform their best.

I am still learning as a set photographer, but I am passionate about this art form. I love the excitement of being on set and the satisfaction of capturing a great image.
